Project partner InNerMeDInNerMeD Members: Gianni Benzi Pharmacological FoundationThe Gianni Benzi Pharmacological Research Foundation (FGB) is a registered not-for-profit Scientific Research Organisation, promoting research in biological, medical and pharmaceutical fields of social interest, with particular reference to rare diseases and patients with unmet medical needs. The Gianni Benzi Foundation is particularly involved in regulatory, ethical and educational activities. FGB participates in many EU-funded projects, besides InNerMeD-I-Network: GRiP (Global Research in Paediatrics), DEEP (DEferiprone Evaluation in Paediatrics), CloSed (Clonidine for Sedation of Paediatric Patients in the Intensive Care Unit) and GAPP (GAbapentin in Paediatric Pain) adding its specific capacities in terms of managing of scientific EU projects, set-up and implementation of surveys, e-learning, libraries and databases, supporting regulatory and ethical activities in the context of interventional and non-interventional studies.
In the InNerMed-I Network project the Gianni Benzi Foundation is responsible for the creation of the IT platform intended to collect, share and store the information on iNMDs and for the preparation/drafting of ethical and methodological recommendations to favour biomedical research. In particular, the Foundation will provide data on drugs for rare diseases in development and marketed in US and Europe captured from its EuOrphan database.
Moreover, the Foundation has a key role in the InNerMed-I Network project Management with its administrative, technical and scientific competences and in the dissemination activities.

Key staff involved in the project

MD, PhD. Professor of Paediatrics at Bari University; PDCO member at European Medicine Agency; expert of the Italian Minister of Health, AIFA (Italian Regulatory Agency). Author of 130 indexed publications mainly dealing with paediatric oncology, paediatrics, regulatory issues. Referee of several international Journals. She is WP leader of WP7 (Activities favouring biomedical research).

Degree in Pharmacy, PhD in Cellular Biochemistry and Pharmacology, post-degree Master in Clinical Research of Medicines. Researcher and GCP-professional at FGB. She is WP leader of WP5 (IT platform).

Clinical engineer, II level Master in Health Technology Assessment (HTA); member of HTA working group at Puglia Region Health Agency; consultant for the Health Department of the Basilicata Region; Project Manager of GRiP (FP7 Network of Excellence HEALTH-F5-2010-261060), TEDDY (FP6 Network of Excellence LSHB-CT-2005-005216) and HTA-Thal (Italy, 5/14.12.2007) projects. He is InNerMeD-I-Network project manager.

Expert in ICT tool design and development; ICT responsible and software developer and Project Management Assistant in national and international research projects, including TEDDY and GRIP.

Economist and expert in communication, for which activities will be involved in InNerMed; Project Manager of DEEP (HEALTH-F4-2010-261483), an FP7 project involving European, American and African partners; member of EFGCP and Italian Network for Clinical Trials.

Master Degree in Political Science, International Relations and Bachelor Degree in Foreign Languages, Linguistic Intermediation for the European Union; involved in the communication and dissemination activities in InNerMeD. She is WP leader of WP8 (Training and Dissemination) in CloSed (FP7-HEALTH-2013-INNOVATION-1, 602453).
