Rare Disease Day – 7th edition
On February 28th, 2014 the seventh edition of Rare Disease Day “Join Together for Better Care” took place and was co-ordinated by EURORDIS (European Organisation for Rare Diseases) at the international level and by National Alliances and Patient Organisations at the national one.
Rare Disease Day is an annual, awareness-raising event, held each year the last day of February with the aim to draw attention to rare diseases and to the millions of people who are affected by them, and highlight the need for more research and funding to help sufferers and their families.
All around the world, thousands of patient groups and other supporting institutions have prepared events to draw attention to rare diseases and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Rare Disease Day itself would have not been possible without their continuous efforts in building awareness locally for people living with a rare disease and their families. Since the main aim of InNerMeD-I-Network is to increase the current knowledge on inherited NeuroMetabolic Diseases (iNMDs) among different target groups, InNerMeD Project has joined this event becoming a friend of Rare Disease Day and showing its support on its official website.
It was a first step to foster the development of a network of support raising awareness for rare diseases that is also in line with the InNerMeD-I-Network objectives.
